Serbian canoe sprinter Olivera Moldovan has announced her retirement from professional sport. She won two medals at European Championships in 2014 and 2015, and two medals at World Championships, as well as a medal at first European Games.

Spanish canoe sprint season kicked off with a traditional Spanish winter championships in Seville. Over 1000 athletes from more than 100 Spanish clubs took part in this competition on the Guadalquivir River. Familiar names from European Championships celebrated their first titles in 2019.

One of World’s best canoe sprinters, who was also a very successful wildwater kayaker, Jon Schofield has announced on Twitter his retirement from competitive sport after this season. He will continue his career in canoeing but in a different role after signing a contract with Scottish Canoe Association.

Hungarian paddler Robert Toth (29), former U23 European Champion, is fighting the biggest battle of all. He was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer (adenoid cystic carcinoma) in 2017 and underwent failed treatments. Now he has an opportunity to be a part of a clinical trial in the US, but for that he needs funds. With this purpose a special campaign was created to help him raise the necessary money. Our thoughts are with Robert and his family and we wish him all the best.
