According to the reports of Azeri Sport multiple Olympic medallist, World and European Championships medallist, Inna Osypenko-Radomska is returning to Ukraine. 35-year-old canoe sprinter competed for Ukraine until she switched to Azerbaijan in 2014. Media in Azerbaijan now reports she expressed a wish to return to Ukraine and has already received a green light to do so.

Montebelo Aguieira Lake Resort, the largest of the Nelo Training Centres, hosted two races past weekend. Over 250 competitors took part in a 1500 metres race as well as in 150 metres race. In the time trial athletes started every minute and the winner was the fastest in each category. In the 150 metres race a knockout format was used to determine the finalists. Results of both races were then combined to get the overall winners in each category. The best in women’s kayak overall standings was Portugal’s Teresa Portela, Roi Rodriguez (ESP) was the winner in men’s kayak standings, Martin Fuksa (CZE) won men’s C1 event and Olesya Romasenko (RUS) won women’s C1 event.

The games will be organised between 15th and 27th July in Coimbra, a home of Portugal’s oldest University. Canoeing events will take place in nearby Montemor-o-Velho, a venue which will also host Canoe Sprint World Championships later this year. Canoeing events are scheduled for 21st, 22nd and 23rd July.
