Paddlers from Germany and Great Britain were the great European winners of this year's canoe slalom World Championships that was held on the 2016 Olympic course in Rio de Janeiro. Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, France, Slovakia, Slovenia, Netherlands and Italy were also among the medallists of the canoe slalom and extreme slalom events in Brazil.
Read morePoland hosted Olympic Hopes competitions both in canoe sprint and canoe slalom. Future stars of canoe sprint competed in Poznan, while young canoe slalom paddlers showed their skills on a course in Krakow. The same venue has already hosted senior European Championships and World Cup events on several occasions, as well as Junior and U23 European and World Championships. During the two competition days paddlers from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia and Austria reached the podium positions.
