Poland hosted Olympic Hopes competitions both in canoe sprint and canoe slalom. Future stars of canoe sprint competed in Poznan, while young canoe slalom paddlers showed their skills on a course in Krakow. The same venue has already hosted senior European Championships and World Cup events on several occasions, as well as Junior and U23 European and World Championships. During the two competition days paddlers from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia and Austria reached the podium positions.

Olympic course in La Seu d'Urgell, Spain, was the last venue of this year's canoe slalom World Cup series. European paddlers were once more excellent, winning thirteen medals in Saturday’s and Sunday’s finals and only two medals went to the hands of Australian paddlers. The same venue will host the 2019 Canoe Slalom and Wildwater Sprint Canoeing World Championships.
