2023 - Year in Review

Another exciting year for European Canoeing and members of canoeing family is coming to an end. Below we have selected some of the events that made a mark in the year 2023. This year, we have enjoyed great action at the European Games in Krakow, where Canoe Slalom joined Canoe Sprint in the sports programme of the EG for the first time. Skopje, Bratislava, Slavonski Brod, Montemor-o-Velho, Brandenburg and Arcos de la Frontera were the sites of the 2023 ECA European Championships where athletes showed all their excellence. The European Canoe Association also got a new leadership in March, when president of the French Canoe Federation Jean Zoungrana took over as the president of the ECA. Kayakers and canoeists among the best sportspersons in Czechia

The end of the year brings award ceremonies to recognise those who excelled in the year that is coming to an end. Czech sports journalists; more precisely 223 members of the Club of Sports Journalists, voted for 65^th time in the poll and Czech paddlers were among the best Czech athletes of the year 2023.

Emma Aastrand Jorgensen with high goals for the Olympic season

One of the best canoe sprinters Emma Aastrand Jorgensen will be the one to watch at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games. 27-year-old Danish kayaker has three Olympic medals so far in her collection and she wished to add more next year in Paris.
