Canoe Slalom paddler Eliška Mintalova was named best Slovak Army athlete of the year 2023. 24-year-old paddler from Žilina won silver medal at this year’s World Championships and a ticket for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Canoe Slalom paddler Urša Kragelj has officially announced the end of her rich sports career, which was marked by a shoulder injury in the last period, and that was also one of the reasons for saying goodbye to the competitive sports. In almost two decades of competitions at the highest international level, Kragelj won medals at World and European championships and World Cup races, and she also experienced the Olympic Games.

The last major international canoeing championships in 2023 was Ocean Racing World Championships in Perth, Australia, where Australian and South African dominated in majority of the events, however European paddlers also won medals. This November the Women in Canoe Sport conference was held in Prague. The aim of the conference was to introduce the Women in Canoe Sport project, its activities and plans for the future. At the conference young academics working in the project presented their papers and presentations.
