We present you the emerald Soča River. It was decided past weekend during the ECA Board of Directors meeting that Solkan will host the 2020 ECA Junior and U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships. This venue was already awarded the 2020 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships at a meeting last year. So, we are looking forward to a big double event in this Slovenian town in two years’ time. Are you excited as we are?
Read moreCzech Canoe Union informed with great sorrow that Bedřich Dvořák passed away on Wednesday, 14th March. Bedřich Dvořák was a legend and one of the greatest personalities of Czech Canoeing. He was born in 1930 and was introduced to canoeing in 1940s in SK Smíchov, but later switched to KVS Praha. A club he never left. Dvořák was an Olympian representing Czechoslovakia at 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki. He competed in K2 10000 metres event and finished seventh. He was a father of Libor Dvořák, 1980 Olympian, and grandfather of Filip Dvořák, 2012 European Champion.

Vyacheslav Sorokin dedicated more than sixty years of his life to canoeing, starting as an athlete himself, but his biggest achievements were made by coaching talented athletes. Sorokin’s protégée was Yuriy Cheban, two-times Olympic champion, Olympic bronze medallist and winner of eleven medals at World and European Championships, with whom he started working in 2001.
