British canoe freestyle star Claire O’Hara has been awarded an MBE for her services in canoeing in the New Years Honours list. Ray Goodwin, first paddler to cross the Irish Sea unsupported, is also among those on the list.

This year the meeting was even more special because of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the POC. The Eugeniusz Pietrasik Olympic Hope Prize was won by canoe sprinter Bartosz Grabowski and tennis player Iga Swiatek.

Canoe Sprint will be a part of European Games and there will be European Championships in Canoe Slalom (Senior, Junior and U23), Canoe Sprint (Junior and U23), Canoe Polo, Wildwater Canoeing, Canoe Marathon, Dragon Boat (including Club Championships) organised this season. With no Senior Canoe Sprint European Championships organised this year because of the European Games Paracanoeing European Championships will be organised together with World Cup race.
