Spanish Canoeing in the spotlight of national sports awards

The fact that Spain is among the strongest European canoeing nations is no secret, but Spanish Canoeing holds the highest status among the sports also in Spain. Recently Spanish paddlers and their Federation (Real Federacion Espanola de Piraguismo) came into the spotlight at the National Sports Awards for the year 2016 that were awarded by the CSD. The highest awards went into the hands of canoe slalom paddler Maialen Chourraut and canoe sprint paddler Saul Craviotto.

Igor Trunov (UKR) banned for four years

International Canoe Federation has banned Ukrainian canoe sprint kayaker Igor Trunov for four years after he failed the doping test earlier this year. In the press release it is stated that 25-year-old Ukrainian returned an “elevated testosterone reading” during an in-competition test at the first ICF Canoe Sprint World Cup of the season 2017 in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal.
