Inna Osypenko-Radomska returns to Ukraine

According to the reports of Azeri Sport multiple Olympic medallist, World and European Championships medallist, Inna Osypenko-Radomska is returning to Ukraine. 35-year-old canoe sprinter competed for Ukraine until she switched to Azerbaijan in 2014. Media in Azerbaijan now reports she expressed a wish to return to Ukraine and has already received a green light to do so.

Canoe Sprinters enjoyed the 2018 Nelo Winter Challenge

Well known boat manufacturer who celebrates 40th anniversary this year organised another edition of interesting event, so called Nelo Winter Challenge. Montebelo Aguieira Lake Resort, the largest of the Nelo Training Centres, hosted two races past weekend. Over 250 competitors took part in a 1500 metres race as well as in 150 metres race. In the time trial athletes started every minute and the winner was the fastest in each category. In the 150 metres race a knockout format was used to determine the finalists. Results of both races were then combined to get the overall winners in each category. The best in women’s kayak overall standings was Portugal’s Teresa Portela, Roi Rodriguez (ESP) was the winner in men’s kayak standings, Martin Fuksa (CZE) won men’s C1 event and Olesya Romasenko (RUS) won women’s C1 event.

Marek Wisła (1957 – 2018)

Another sad news comes from Poland. Former canoe sprinter Marek Wisła died on January 29th. Marek Wisła competed in the late 1970s and in the 1980s and was also an Olympian. In 1980 he competed at the Moscow Olympic Games and finished in fourth place in men’s C2 500 metres event together with Jerzy Dunajski. He was also a multiple Polish national champion in men’s C1 500 and 1000 metres events (1976, 1978, 1980, 1983, 1985).
 
We would like to express sincere condolences to his family and friends. Marek, rest in peace.

Canoe Sprint part of the 2018 European Universities Games

It has been confirmed that canoe sprint events will be part of the European Universities Games for the first time in 2018. The games will be organised between 15th and 27th July in Coimbra, a home of Portugal’s oldest University. Canoeing events will take place in nearby Montemor-o-Velho, a venue which will also host Canoe Sprint World Championships later this year. Canoeing events are scheduled for 21st, 22nd and 23rd July.

BULLETIN - 2018 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships

The most promising and best young European canoe sprinters will travel to Italy this year for the 2018 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships. This sporting event will take place in Auronzo, a municipality in the province of Belluno (Cadore) in the Italian region of Veneto. Auronzo is located about 120 kilometres north of Venice.
