Switzerland hosted this year's Wildwater Canoeing World Championships in Muotathal. It was the first Wildwater championships held in Switzerland after the year 1973. European paddlers did a great job. The first name in women’s part of the championships was undoubtedly young Czech competitor Martina Satkova, who celebrated double World Champion title in individual classic race in K1 and C1 on the opening day of the championships.

Vrbas River in Banja Luka which will also host World Cup event this season was a site of the third ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup. Bosnian kayaker was the fastest in men’s K1 event to celebrate in his home town.

In about three months the 2018 ECA Wildwater Canoeing Junior and U23 European Championships will be held in Skopje, the capital of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Early in April ECA Wildwater Canoeing Technical Delegate and Board member Manuela Gawehn visited the race courses in Skopje together with the ICF Wildwater Canoeing chairman and committee members.
