The 1996 Olympic Venue Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, less than an hour drive from Atlanta, United States of America, was the location of this year’s Dragon Boat World Championships. Among the thirteen countries participating at this competition (Armenia, Bangladesh, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Philippines, Russia, Switzerland, Ukraine and United states of America), European teams were the most succeussful. Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, Italy, France and Switzerland were those European countries that won medals in masters, senior or junior events.

The second day of the Canoe Sprint Olympic Hopes regatta in Poznan, Poland, brought the 500 meters events. Hungary, Germany, Belarus, Denmark, Czech Republic and Slovakia were again among the strongest nations participating at this competition. After two competition days Hungary leads in the standings of Nations Cup as well as in the medals table. On Sunday the exciting competition weekend will conclude with 200 metres events.
