We are only one week away from the opening ceremony of the 2018 ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships in Prague. The Championships will open on Wednesday, but first competitions will be held on Friday when heats in all categories will be organised (C2M, C1W, K1M, K1W, C1M). On Satuday we will see individual semifinals and finals as well as team events in C2M, C1W and K1M, while on Sunday championships will close with individual semifinals and finals and team events in K1W and C1M.

Hungarian canoe sprint capital Szeged hosted the first World Cup race of the season this weekend. Europe remains the strongest canoe sprint as well as paracanoeing continent. In 27 canoe sprint A finals and paracanoeing finals that were held over the four competition days European paddlers won most of the medals. The most successful nation of the weekend was Hungary whose athletes had loud support from the stands. Hungary concluded the World Cup event with four gold, eight silver and twelve bronze medals. Spain also won four gold medals and in addition to this also two silver and two bronze medals. The top three nations of the weekend in terms of medals won by their athletes rounds up New Zealand with four gold medals and one silver medal.

The paracanoeing season 2018 kicked off with World Cup race held this weekend in Szeged, Hungary. European paracanoeists showed excellent performances picking up seventeen medals over the three competition days. Great Britain was the most successful European nation with six medals.
