Bren Orton sets British record in Mexico

23-year-old British extreme kayaker Bren Orton wrote history by making the longest kayak drop in the British canoeing history. This happened in Mexico’s Big Banana Falls where Orton took on the challenge of the 128 feet drop (about 39 metres). This was the second highest kayak descent in history and the highest waterfall navigated by a British kayaker so far.

Polish Olympic Committee awarded canoe sprinters Justyna Iskrzycka and Paulina Paszek

Polish Olympic Committee awarded the best young athletes of the year 2017 during the annual New Year’s Olympic Family Meeting held on 8th January 2018 in Warsaw. The Eugeniusz Pietrasik Olympic Hope Prize was won by canoe sprinters Justyna Iskrzycka and Paulina Paszek, and swimmer Kacper Stokowski.

VIDEO - Veronica Yoko Plebani and the Water Circle project

Italian paracanoeist and Paralympian Veronica Yoko Plebani became a spokesperson of the Water Circle project, a project which was born as a simple idea on paper, but now with a help of supporters becomes a reality. With her help and driving force the canoe club Palazzolo Sull’Oglio will be fully remodelled and will break down the architectural barriers and also realize the activities to bring canoeing closer to the young people. It is expected that the club will now offer a ramp for the wheelchair access to the river.

Ondřej Tunka is Czech paddler of the year

Czech Canoe Union awarded the best paddlers of the season 2017 which was very successful for the Czech team in both Olympic disciplines - Canoe Slalom and Canoe Sprint - as well as in Wildwater Canoeing. With many medals won at the European and World Championships the decision who has been the best athlete of the year was not easy, but at the end it was canoe slalom World Champion Ondřej Tunka who received an award for the best athlete of the year.

2018 ECA Junior and U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships

Skopje, the capital city of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, will host the 2018 ECA Junior and U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships. The competitions will be held this August on Treska River in the picturesque Matka Canyon.
