Hungary hosted the last ECA Board of Directors meeting in the year 2017. The governing body of the European Canoe Association evaluated the season 2017 and also looked forward to the upcoming years. They have also set the final dates of the 2018 European Championships.

Author of the book Andrea Pace graduated in physics and is a former sprint canoeing competitor and coach. Currently he works for the Italian Institute for Medicine and Sport Science in Rome and is also a co-worker at the Italian institute for Naval Architectures' ship model experiment tank.

ECA Vice-President Jaroslav Pollert receives Czech state award

Vice-President of the European Canoe Association Jaroslav Pollert received the Czech state award on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia at the end of the First World War on October 28th, the country’s national day and holiday. President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman awarded Jaroslav Pollert with the First degree Medal of Merit.

Several medals for European canoe marathon paddlers in China

China, which will host the 2019 Canoe Marathon World Championships, has organised final Canoe Marathon World Cup events of the season. Athletes from 24 countries and five continents took part in the competitions which were in Shanghai and Shaoxing. European paddlers did well in the Far East.

Mark Proctor waves goodbye to competitive slalom

28-year-old British paddler Mark Proctor decided to end his professional career as canoe slalom athlete. World Championships medallist suffered a shoulder injury last year and failed to qualify for the British national team this year, so he made a difficult decision to retire.
