Jean Zoungrana, a candidate of the French Canoe Federation, has been elected the new president of the European Canoe Association at the 16th Ordinary Congress, held in Crete. Albert Woods OBE whose mandate ended after 30 years has been named Honorary Life President of the European Canoe Association.

The 16th Ordinary Congress of the European Canoe Association will be held this Saturday, 25th March 2023, in Chania, Greece. The delegates will be voting for the elective positions of the ECA president, one vice-president, three Board members and ECA auditor during the one day congress in Crete.

The 2023 ECA Open Canoe Slalom European Cup race in Ljubljana – Tacen will be organised on 22nd and 23rd April 2023. The race will also serve as the first two selection races for the Slovenian national team.

The artificial channel in Pau hosted the Pyrenees Cup canoe slalom race, which is also the first race of the season 2023 that counts for the 2023 ECA Open Canoe Slalom European Cup. Spain took the wins in three out of four events thanks to Maialen Chourraut, David Llorente and Miquel Trave. Gabriela Satkova was the best in women’s canoe.
