Moscow will host the 2020 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships

JUST IN: Following the withdrawal of Linz, Austria, as host city of the 2020 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships it has been confirmed that this canoeing event will be held in Moscow, Russia. This second largest city in Europe, with over 13 million people living within the city limits, will welcome Europe’s best young canoe sprint paddlers between 9th and 12th July 2020.

Spanish Canoeing says goodbye to José Antonio Muñoz, one of the key figures in Andalusian canoeing

Royal Spanish Canoe Federation reports on another loss for Spanish canoeing and sport. Only days after the passing of José Luis Calvo Román, former paddler and coach and RFEP's official, another sad news comes with the passing of José Antonio Muñoz, known as Anchoa, one of the key figures in promotion of canoeing in Andalusia.

José Luis Calvo Román (1945 - 2018)

Royal Spanish Canoe Federation (RFEP) informed of the passing of José Luis Calvo Román, former paddler and coach. José Luis Calvo Román was a Spanish Champion in the season 1963. He was also a team leader of Spanish canoeing team at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.
 
We would like to express sincere condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace.

European Canoeing events kick off in less than 10 days

The wait is finally over. European canoeing competitions in the season 2018 will start in less than 10 days with the Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup. The first event of the series will take place in Skopje, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, on April 7th. Venue which hosted last year’s senior Wildwater Canoeing European Championships, awaits the best Europe’s Junior and U23 paddlers this August for another edition of ECA European Championships as well.

ICF's decision to exclude men’s C2 events from the World Cup series and World Championships effective immediately has caused a lot of upset among the athletes, whose lives have turned upside down overnight. This event however remains in the European Championships programme as European Canoe Association is not obliged to follow the ICF rules in its entirety.
