The last part of the canoe sprint competitions at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Győr, Hungary, is getting closer. On Saturday only the semi-finals and finals A and B in the 200 metres events are to be organised and it will be over. Today’s competition brought the names of the semi-finalists in the 200 metres events that remain in the game for the last sets of medals. In the 200 metres heats Hungarian and Slovak paddlers produced the best runs.

The World Games are an international multi-sport event, meant for sports, or disciplines or events within a sport, which are not contested in the Olympic Games. The World Games are held every four years, since their debut in 1981, one year after the Summer Olympic Games. Canoe Polo was first part of the World Games in 2005 in Duisburg, Germany.

French Canoe Slalom paddler Émilie Fer, the 2012 Olympic Champion, recently announced her retirement from competitive canoe slalom. 34-year-old French paddler was the first French female kayaker to win Olympic gold medal in canoe slalom.
